Michael is a clinical psychologist licensed in California. Michael brings to California
Psychological Services extensive experience working with adults across the lifespan, from
young adulthood to seniors, and from many culturally diverse backgrounds. Michael practices
from a Humanistic, strengths-based approach that emphasizes the client’s internal resources in
an empathic, collaborative and nonjudgmental manner to promote healing. In therapy, Michael
seeks to aid his clients in connecting to the essence of their Personhood; that healing is
achieved through affirmation and connection to their authentic selves, their deeply held values,
and the experiences and relationships they consider meaningful in their lives. Michael also
draws from other theoretical orientations, such as Psychodynamic models, Jungian
Psychoanalysis, and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), as appropriate in order to
tailor therapy to each client’s unique personal context. In couple’s therapy, Michael draws from
Emotion-focused therapy (EFT), The Gottman Method for Healthy Relationships, and Imago
therapy in order to best meet the needs of couples in various degrees of relational distress.
Michael obtained his BA in Psychology from Siena College in Loudonville, NY and his MA in
Theology and PsyD in Clinical Psychology from Fuller Theological Seminary. Throughout his
doctorate training Michael obtained experience from a broad range of clinical settings, such as
community mental health centers, hospitals, and university counseling centers. He completed
his doctoral internship at State Center Community College District- Fresno City College
Counseling Center.
His clinical interests include but are not limited to: depression, anxiety, spirituality, trauma,
identity formation, cultural adjustment, and existential concerns.
